Not only has mystery Miami player from last week not claimed their picks, and they did not pick yet.
But, we have another mystery player, picking from a Dearborn IP address. Any takers....
Yo Yo Yo Yo.... Our favorite time is here again, as the 15th Annual Wayne Fontes Memorial Jenkers Jug begins. I know, it's the NFL, but being a Lions fan with young kids, it would be easy to completely abandon fandom without the Jug. Why else would I try to squeeze in 4-6 games per weekend? Of course, this could always turn out to be THE YEAR. Good luck Jenking, my friends. Portions of this nonsense will be continued to be brought to you by Lazarus Living Inc as our major sponsor. My deep appreciation to the majority of you have have donated to this cause. A new sponsor, '5 for Fighting (Against ALS)', is joining this early fall sponsorship. Good luck Jenking!
----------NEWS FOR WEEK 1:
--Game one has started. You can no longer pick either of them for the most points pick (bad picks anyways). However, you haven't missed any games yet. Wake up. No major lifting in week 1, but brace for week 2. I can't make the password public. Find me somehow.
--Remember, the point of the Jug to open a dialogue. Not much is off limits, but our laziness as of late has been the antithesis of what made this more enjoyable. I would encourage you to comment. I can set any of you up with web page access to whatever you want to contribute. Sit there, and barely remember to make your football picks every week in the modern era, and we become staler than this plea.
--Michigan showing why they may be back for real now. It was impressive for at least 10-15 reasons. Truly, wine and cheese lovers, who does have it better than us? Not Notre Dame, that's for sure.
--Picks to go out Tuesday morning every time this year. I pseudo-promise. Similar half-hearted efforts will be made to keep stats as accurate and quick as possible.
--Who knows how many will roll this year. We already have 2 pickers that didn't pick their name, one A2 and one Miami area. Introductions will be made, good times will be had.
--If memory serves correct, when the last player that's probably top 5 all time in his position retired, it didn't turn out well. And lasted years. Despite common sense, I understand my role in the universe, and I think that this may be the year. It's my duty to send them positive vibes, which may be the difference between the playoffs and 2-6 wins. It's hard to tell too much in preseason, unless you get crushed every time out. I think that our defense will be improved, especially with Levy back. He is healthy, right? Our division isn't necessarily filled with offensive juggernauts, outside of GB (maybe if they don't have tons of injuries again). I think that if Stafford can continue on decreased picks, and play more field position/boring games like 9-3. Our first out against Indy will be rough though. Those tickets are hot.
--I'm still waiting for the late season Indians collapse. Seriously, where is it? Wildcard is probably more like it. I just hope they can find a way. I'm sick of only watching them play the white sox (my home town Indy AL team).
---------DETROIT RED WINGS
--Maybe the best part of social media is following these guys' feeds on various platforms. Good quality production and content. I watched live feeds from the prospect camps/games/measurements/etc. I'm predicting a top 4 in the east finish.
--Anyone? The Rothbart Report? Nitro's Delusional Denouement?
--We did look good against a clearly inferior team. I'm trying not to get too excited yet, but I did talk on the phone with Barry until like 3:30 am about it the other night. I was most impressed with our lines. I'm not sure which one was better. On the one hand, I found myself cheering for the total Hawaii yards to go further negative. On the other, this modest young man from Indy cannot be that good of a running back as a freshman. He does remind me of a tiny Barry Sanders though, with his patient, yet violent style. Well played game by all. We may be seeing this demolition for a few weeks in a row now.
----------BIG UPS OF THE WEEK AWARD
--Any jenker that plays gets the BIG UPS AWARD this week!
----------JENKER CONTRIBUTOR OF THE WEEK
--Auntie Rhonda gives me confidence that people will actually pay the pot this year. She wanted to pay last time that I saw her, but things were hectic. She's one that I actually know to remember something more than once. Remember to pay. Tips appreciated at charity sponsor sites.
----------JENKER MUSIC and other cultural curiosities
--Most activity will likely come from the reggae channel. However, try them all out. Take over some. Create new ones. We are still looking for items to stock the Trading post. We could sell Tacos. Everyone would buy a Jenky Taco. Sounds cleansing.
----------PAID UP FOLKS
----------CRAZY JENKY STORY
--This is not the first time that this has happened in my career or life, but it was recent. I enjoy talking about race issues, and this seems to be all the rage in today's society, even reaching the NFL in strange ways. So, I'm working, seeing the last patient at the end of another hard day. Poor unfortunate soul, on dialysis, bed/wheelchair-bound with both legs amputated, and suffering in pain. I'm gullible and empathic to a fault when offering palliative services. I also feel that I'm highly trained and experienced at negotiations and cognitive behavioral therapy. Trust me, I've met a ton of grumpy old people. It's not unusual that I get one physical or metaphysical threat per day. Out of the mouths of old babes with dementia. I usually can talk people off the ledge, so to speak. In this case, after I had written out the necessary and stable dose of narcotics for this patient, I realized that a proper narcotic pain contract was never completed. So, I have this spiel, which is not that varied and goes over 4 main components - I'm the only one giving you these/any pain meds, take them only as directed and you will never run out, no sharing/selling/etc, and don't F up (I will be drug testing, checking on your Rx habits, and I've already heard almost every imaginable excuse). It's rather stratight-forward and common sense, mainly in order to protect the patient from killing themselves. However, this particular patient didn't react well. I spent about 15-20 minutes trying to allow this patient to walk back accusations of calling me a racist for "doing this". I pulled out all the stops, even getting personal with my family story. The part where I thought that I was most convincing was when I explained that I had seen a 97 year old white woman earlier in the day. I had to read the same riot act to her 60ish son. Trust me, it's because children, grands, and greatgrands will steal that in a hurry. Even despite these 2 most obviously well crafted counters, this patient kept digging that knife. Get out of here racist. I usually don't give up either. It made me ask my wife whether anyone had ever called her that. She said no. And no, I'm not trying to compare hateful things that one color of people do or experience in their relationships with others compared to the vice versa(s). Hate is hate, and it was a tired excuse. Some patients get their first and last evaluation completed all in one visit. Maybe they are the wise ones. Imagine how you would feel if a prying doctor showed up every month or so, banging on your door with a bag full of needles. Testing your 97 year old mother for drugs...
I've been spinning in circles lately with other stuff, so my apologies for tardiness. PICKS ARE LIVE THOUGH FOR WEEK 6.
GOOD LUCK JENKERS.
There is a correlation between how terribly I'm doing in the pool, and the amount of on-time Jenk that is produced. I will be better.
Fool me once... Well, it's just shame on me for getting tricked. I'm letting a couple of you special jenkers slide, those that took them as a KO pick a little late. But, I have to eliminate the game as a WEEK 4 Pick. It wasn't fair for me to try and trick you. After all, I tricked myself. So, only 6 games counted in week 4. A Couple of you Jenkers should feel lucky in KO world.
My Preemptive Emptiness permits me only to let you know that I feel some kind of way. Some type away... Some now.
Delayed, but not cancelled. Games for week 5 will be out tonight (and week 4 results, etc). I've been a little busy as of late....
